ANNUAL SPRING TREE AUCTION INSPECTION:
May 15th, 2021: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Our spring auction will be online again this year. You will need to set up an online account with Proxibid to participate. If you need assistance in setting up an account, please call Fahey Auctioneers at (320) 854-3510. Bidding will close on Thursday, May 20th at 6:00 PM. After that, the credit card on file in your Proxibid account will be charged. The 4% convenience fee will be waived. If you already have an account, please be sure your credit card information on file is up to date. All payments will be processed by Friday, May 21st at 5 pm. A paid invoice will be emailed to all buyers and another copy of the invoice will be provided to the Kahnke Brothers staff members loading your trees. All plants must be picked up on Saturday, May 22nd, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Please do not call for an alternate pick-up time. Before placing your bids, plan to pick up your trees on the scheduled pick-up day.
We arrange our trees in lots of four or less. If shrubs are included, the lot sizes generally vary from 1 to 20 plants. Winning bidders have the opportunity to purchase as few or as many plants from a given lot as they choose. Plants are sold in the order in which they are arranged to keep things moving. Whenever possible, we stagger tree varieties throughout the auction so that everyone has a chance to bid on the types they are interested in. We really try to keep the atmosphere friendly for both large and small volume buyers. Our auctions are always a mix of surplus items, park grade stock and #1 premium stock. We make our selections carefully, to ensure that we always include high demand items to keep our regular attendees coming back. There are no minimums or reserves, but buyers premiums and loading fees do apply.
All of our trees are under irrigation in the auction yard, so we can keep them healthy until they are picked up. If shrubs are included in the line-up, they are not under irrigation and do need to be removed from the premises on the scheduled pick-up day. WE DO NOT LOAD ENCLOSED TRAILERS, as damage to trees and/or equipment is likely to result. In most cases, our trees weigh 500 - 1,000 pounds a piece, so please plan for that when you are making transportation arrangements. We generally do not offer delivery or planting services for auction purchases. Any exception to that policy must be arranged by speaking with our CEO, Jeff Kahnke, in advance.
Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your auction experience.

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your auction experience.
- Wear boots (or old shoes) and bring a pocket poncho and/or and umbrella when you visit the tree farm. Dress in layers and be ready for anything. Mother Nature is unpredictable.
- Please understand that loading takes a considerable amount of time and plan accordingly.
- If at all possible, bring a ratcheting strap for every row of trees you plan to haul. Tarps are also a good idea, since we do not tie or wrap auction trees for transport.
- Handouts, with descriptions of the plants in the auction and ball & burlap planting instructions will be available near the auction area on the day of the preview. You can also find great information on the "plant care info" section of this site.
- Our sales staff will be available to answer questions in our retail sales lot on preview day. This area is west of the auction yard and south of the greenhouses.
